In remodeling my kitchen I found I needed to move my refrigerator to where my 50 gallon water heater sat, so I decided to go tankless.

I bought the Stiebel Eltron Tempra 36 from AMAZON (Compact Appliance) for a little over $700.00 (Great Price!), upgraded my home to 400 AMP service, mounted the Tempra 36 to a wall in my washroom, removed my existing water heater, plumbed all hot & cold water lines to/from the Tempra 36, ran three 35 foot lengths of 6 gauge wire (X2 hot + ground) from the Tempra 36 to my new breaker panel and connected with three 60 AMP two pole breakers.

I fired the beast up after ensuring I had no leaks and lo and behold, NEARLY SCALDING HOT WATER!! ONLY WHEN I WANT IT!!

I am a 100% do-it-your-selfer and believe me, this tankless water heater was simple to install and connect.

IT SHOULD PAY FOR ITSELF WITHIN ONE YEAR'S TIME!! I HIGHLY RECCOMEND IT!!

The Tempra 24 Plus kicks out precise temperature hot water instantly and maintains a steady tempreature. Seems like very high quality and with the digital temperature readout very easy to use and know what the unit is doing.

While the plumbing installation is simple and the unit does not require any venting, the electrical service installation is very heavy duty. If you have an old house it is very likely that your electrical panel won't handle the two 60-amp curcuits required here. A new panel can cost a couple thousand dollars. Check it out first before buying one of these.

My newer house had enough capacity for the installation and it still cost almost $500, and that was a good price for time and materials with the electrician only.

I just finished installing this water heater in my yoga studio. I have a powder room and an outside shower, with a laundry sink in the garden shed. This heater is amazing. I have it set on "medium" and the water is plenty hot and almost instantaneous. I have used the shower a few times and not run out of hot water. Plenty of volume for my needs. It is about the size of a Webster's dictionary and very easy to mount. Be aware that you need to run at least 3' of copper tubing from both sides of this thing so if you have plastic pipe you will have to make modifications. Also, you need to have enough electric service to handle a 240v, 60A breaker. It says to use 6 ga. wire, but the pigtail on the unit is 8 ga. Use your own judgement here.

The only complication comes with the electrical supply. !!!YOU CANNOT SIMPLY REPLACE YOUR TANK STYLE WATER HEATER WITH THIS UNIT!!! The unit requires 3 x 50A breakers and will pull almost 60A when you have more than a couple of HW outlets running. You will need an electrician to install this. If you're not sure, PLEASE pay a contractor to do the electrical part. If you use sub-standard wire or wire that is too thin, you WILL set your house on fire. That being said, I paid about $500 for the whole electrical shebang (including a new sub-panel) and it works great.

Allow an hour for your CPVC cement to dry, turn it on and BOOM - you're in business. the temperature adjustment is surprisingly accurate and easily supplies our house (3.5 bath) with as much hot water as we need.

I have the eco 27, the big model. Just went down, stopped heating after 6 months. I will update on how they do or don't take care of me. I loved it ,but not sure now. Will advise

2-10 Update. Called customer service albert was awesome. ..walked me through some trouble shooting ,gave me his cell. .turns out some sediment or minerals were affecting it . After few calls, .took the outlet line off and it worked ..hooked back up and good. Excellent service

This is the best Water heater I have ever had! Fairly easy install. Running the 8 gauge wires was a a little hard and putting in 2 double pole 40s in the box wasnt to bad. We live in idaho and the water temp in the winter comes into our house at 32 degrees and with this we have nice hot water!

So our water heater started leaking on June 6th, and my wife suggested we look into a tankless system.
